Last year, there was a calling for a Red/Blue thopter queen. We were given Breya, Etherium Shaper; many were happy but she ended up being a very combo heavy commander. Now we have Saheeli, the Gifted who may yet wear the crown of thopter queen and Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer might take the title of token king?Let’s take a look at the official decklist
Exquisite Invention
Right out of the gates this deck look like it can hold its own. The synergy between two of the potential commanders is great and the third has synergies with artifact activated abilities. Saheeli, the Gifted makes artifact tokens and discounts spells for the number of artifacts you control. Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer cares about tokens in general and makes artifact tokens. Tawnos, Urza’s Apprentice is a hasty Rings of Brighthearth so he has the highest potential for combos. The overall theme of artifacts seems exceptionally strong. This deck looks like it will be very good out of the box. If you are looking to build a Red/Blue artifact deck I think this is a good buy. As always if you don’t want the full deck just pick up the singles you need. Now let’s look as some upgrades.
First let’s talk fast mana. It can be a sore subject with some, but fast mana is something that is needed in my meta.
Now I want some focus on tokens.
- Hangarback Walker
- Golden Guardian (after it flips into Gold-Forge Garrison)
- Maverick Thopterist
- Pia and Kiran Nalaar
- Sai, Master thopterist
Next let’s look at some protection for our artifacts.
Finally, let’s look at some of the ways we will return artifacts to play from the graveyard and put them into play from the library as well or dig them out of the deck.
Artifacts, Artifacts Everywhere
As always this is how I would build the deck, feel free to use the list or pieces of the list or just build a commander from the ground up. Feedback in the comments is always welcome!
